MASTERS OF POWER 2011 USCFL CHAMPIONS!

Florida) Before a standing room only crowd in Miami, The Smurfs
and the Masters of Power
played THE best Go For The Gold Game ever. I know I have said this
about the
last few title games over the past couple of years but this game really
lived up
to and deserves to be called the greatest game ever.
From start to finish, the game was a celebration of the USCFL's 30th anniversary and honored past game MVPs. In fact more than 100 different characters were present before the game even began. Once the game got underway, the game was a complete defensive stalemate and it took nearly the entire first quarter before Adora put the first points up on the board with an easy field goal.
The second quarter was also a stalemate defensively but the Smurfs put up three field goals to take a 9-3 lead into halftime. Never in Go For The Gold history had the first half end without either team scoring a touchdown and the combined twelve points were the lowest total for a halftime score in history.
The Masters of Power had to play three-fourths of the game without The Princess of Power. She-Ra was injured late in the first quarter with a seperated shoulder, taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and returned to the stadium in her normal costume (her shoulder in a cast) looking on the sidelines as her brother He-Man took over for her.
The Smurfs gained momentum in the third quarter with two touchdown passes by The Smurfette to Dreamy Smurf and Clumsy Smurf and held The Masters of Power to just two more field goals to take a 26-9 third quarter lead. But The Masters of Power didn't give up, they fought back in true Masters of Power fashion.
With under fourteen minutes left to play in the game, Prince Adam scored the Masters of Power's first touchdown on a six yard run to close the gap 26-16. Adora added her fourth field goal less than two minutes later to pull within seven 26-19. Then with less than seven minutes left, Smurfette threw her third touchdown pass and her second to Clumsy Smurf to go up by fourteen 33- 19. The game appeared to be over. But someone forgot to tell The Masters of Power.
In the final four minutes, The Masters of Power got hot as He-Man threw three touchdown passes to Perfuma, Teela and Flutterina to go up by seven with 14 seconds left to play. The Smurfs had four chances to tie the game and send the game into overtime for the third time in history. Smurfette fired four passes all of them incomplete and The Masters of Power won their first championship game as a unified team. The Masters of Power came out to the field holding hands in unison at the start of the game and He-Man and She-Ra together hoisted The Walt Disney Trophy high above their heads at the end of the game.
Shadow Weaver has added her name to the list of Go For The Gold MVP list as she was chosen as the game MVP with 3 interceptions in the game, 5 blocked passes and a sack. The Masters of Power also became the first team to defeat three division champions to win the title. They finish the 2011 campaign at 11-6-0. The Smurfs end the 2011 season at 13-4-0.The All-Star Game on Labor Day is all that remains of the USCFL's 30th anniversary celebration. Following that, we will be playing four exhibitions, each one featuring one of the new expansion teams playing against their closest counterparts, beginning with "The Top Cat Bowl" in late September. Thanks everyone for another fantastic season! The Road to Canada will begin April 6th, 2012.
