2011 ALL-STAR GAME

PACIFIC CONFERENCE PREVAILS 30-27 IN ALL-STAR MARATHON

(LAKE BUENA VISTA, Florida.)  What a fitting way to end the 2011 season with an overtime win in the All-Star Game! The Pacific Conference came into this game losing four of the last five All-Star Games until yesterday. Although scoring was low all throughout the game, it was scored when it needed to. Normally, when compared to the playoff races during the home stretch of the regular season, the playoffs themselves, and the Go for the Gold game, the All-Star game seems almost anticlimactic. And usually it is. But not so this year.

2011 Hall of Fame Inductee SpongeBob SquarePants got the Pacific Conference going by throwing two touchdown passes to take a 14-0 lead midway through the second quarter. Then Lindsay of the Atlantic Conference All-Stars picked off a pass and ran it back thirty-five yards for a pick six to cut the deficit in half. The Pacific Conference took a 17-7 halftime lead into the locker room.

The Atlantic Conference came back with a 92 yard run by Daffy Duck to pull within three. After another Pacific Conference field goal, Jem threw her only touchdown pass to Minnie Mouse to take a one point lead into the fourth quarter.

The things got real exciting, after Adora put up two Atlantic Conference field goals, SpongeBob threw his third touchdown pass to Stimpy to tie the game and send it into overtime. In overtime, both teams struggled to get into the endzone or field goal range to win until Rowlf botted a 36 yard field goal with 1:08 left to win it 30-27.

Jem had little to say about her performance. "Ewww, I can't seem to even be able to buy a win!" the woozy 80's pop star exclaimed, tears in her eyes. When Rowlf put up the game winning field goal, she fainted and required medical attention to revive her. As a precaution, she was taken to a nearby medical facility where doctors said her fainting spell was caused by frustration and exhaustion, and was promptly released.

SpongeBob SquarePants, on the other hand, was jubilant about the victory and his induction into the Hall. "I'd like to thank everyone in Bikini Bottom, the folks at the Krusty Krab, the people at Nickelodeon, Stephen Hillenberg, my creator, and last but not least, all the loyal fans out there," he said. "All of you put me here, and for that, I am forever grateful. As for today's game, we didn't quit when the Atlantic (Conference) came back and took the lead. No, sir, we simply didn't quit when we fell behind. It made us more determined than ever to win the game one way or another, and it worked as you can plainly see. But ever since joining this League, I can't remember a game being so physically draining."

The elapsed time of 73:52 is the second longest game in USCFL history and the actual time of 3 hours and 42 minutes is the longest webcast we've ever done. The season may be over, but we will have your fantasy football fix as we will play four exhibition games, each one pitting one of our new expansion teams against its closest counterpart during the fall. The first of these exhibitions will be on Friday night, September 23 as Hanna-Barbera South travels to Pittsburgh to take on upstart Hanna-Barbera North in the "Top Cat Bowl" to help celebrate Top Cat's 50th anniversary. The new season will begin April 6, 2012 when the Road to Canada gets underway and we hope you'll join us!
